Strike Update: Draft In, Members Set to Debate, Discuss

A draft of a WGA-AMPTP deal is done, with many of the DGA terms carried over in this tentative agreement. Now leadership will hear from members, who are meeting at 2 p.m. ET in New York and 7 p.m. PT in Los Angeles, before deciding tomorrow whether there's enough member support to lift the strike and sign the deal.

A bit of a medica circus developed Saturday afternoon outside the Crowne Plaza in Gotham where WGA East members are meeting, with media and camera crews descending on the meeting before it was set to start. (One passer-by faced the hotel and screamed to no one in particular: "Come on, negotiate a deal!") WGA East president Michael Winship gave a brief impromptu press conference outside the main entrance at 1:30 p.m. explaining the deal points as members continued to stream in. Then doors were shut and media scattered. More shortly.
